Food Systems
In the last 4 years at Western Washington University, I have been learning off and on about food systems; both traditional indigenous systems, and the now more common place colonial based systems we see today. This past fall quarter (2022), I was in an agro-ecology class with Gigi Berardi. I found this course very influential to my changing and growing views on environmental issues. Food systems are a key stone facet of how populations everywhere interact with and understand the environment and their relationship to it. For this section, I will be exploring various parts of my academic experience through a lens of food systems and how we can change them for the better to help heal socioecological ties to the places we live.
