Though I have not been active here on my blog these past few months, I've been pretty busy working on other aspects of my efforts to make an difference and help share stories about the Salish Sea. Some of which include
Setting up a podcast currently called 'Storying the Salish Sea' and researching and networking for our first episode
Working on the instagram account for the community garden project me and a classmates started fall of 2022
a Patreon
a Discord server
and a catch all instagram account for updates on all of these things and my art business
I'm very excited to say that I have a link tree with a Patreon, some instagram links, and this blog. I also had a stroke of luck and began working at Sound Salmon Solutions this past July! Sound Salmon Solutions is one of the 14 Regional Fishery Enhancement Groups of Washington. There, I work on the restoration team, restoring riparian habitats. This is a 40hr/week job so I've been struggling to find much time to post and work on things regularly. That said, I feel so lucky to have the opportunity to work in the field on something I am so very passionate about.
There's still a ton to do in terms of getting the word out and actually producing content (including art to sell), but my first podcast episode is in the works! The topic for episode 1? RECYCLING. Does it even work? How can we use it appropriately? Does it work differently in different cities? What about countries??
Me and a guest, and hopefully some co hosts, will be answering these questions and then some so stay tuned! It will be the first episode about the huge topic of waste management.
I will be posting more updates and content across all platforms, so if you'd like to stay in the loop, give me a follow on my instagram accounts and my patreon!
Contrary to popular belief, its FREE to follow me on patreon, where most of my podcast updates will likely be, but you also have the option of supporting me and my endeavors with a monthly subscription that you can start and stop at any time. All the money will be going towards my community garden/compost project, my podcast, and my art business (which will also helps fund these things). There will be different tiers you can subscribe at, each one with different perks. If you'd like to learn more about my community garden project, you can follow the instagram account @arntzen.garden.wwu.
I am still organizing all platforms so they're a little more user friendly and cohesive. I may change the name 'Salish Sea Bourn' as well so I can actually buy the domain and incorporate this collection of activities under one organization of sorts, along with branding in a more effective way. A lot goes into picking a name, and I haven't even gotten into why I initially chose the word bourn or bourne yet. (I'm thinking I'll likely just change it to born)
Either way, if you're interested in supporting any of this, please share with friends and family and give us a follow on Patreon or Instagram for free. You can also message me on Instagram or Patreon to ask how you can get involved.
Word of mouth is a powerful thing.
Thanks again for reading.
